Hello, I’m Amanda.

Nice to meet you! I am an ambitious reporter with experience covering environmental issues, politics and local government. Most recently, I’ve covered the city of Ann Arbor for The Michigan Daily.

About me

I am a senior at the University of Michigan studying political science and creative writing. Outside of the classroom, I work as an assistant news editor and city beat reporter at U-M’s student-run paper, The Michigan Daily. I have two summers of full-time reporting experience in my home state of New Hampshire, at The New Hampshire Bulletin and New Hampshire Public Radio. I have also worked as a stringer for the New York Times covering the 2024 republican primary and extreme weather in New Hampshire.

Stories I want to tell

I am interested in telling stories which are human-centered, and solutions-focused. I believe local reporting is at the heart of journalism’s role in the democratic process, and I am especially interested in providing coverage to underreported communities and beats.

My home state’s unique political culture has shaped my interest in local government and politics. I have experience covering city government, state politics and national political campaigns.

As a student journalist and intern, I have also covered some of the emerging challenges New England is facing due to climate change, fostering an interest in environmental reporting. Through my reporting I’ve seen how this beat interacts with a variety of other issues and impacts people from all walks of life, making it especially vital to cover.
